TEL AVIV, April 1. /TASS/. President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas is ready to hold a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"I will meet with him, at any time. And I suggested, by the way, for him to meet," Abbas told Channel 2 TV in an interview broadcast on Friday. When asked about Netanyahu’s response to this proposal, Abbas said: "It's a secret. He can tell you about it."

The press service of the Israeli prime minister has not yet commented on Abbas’ statement. However, at the beginning of last week, addressing the session of American Israel Public Affairs Committee in US via video bridge, Netanyahu said that Israel is ready to resume peace talks with Palestinians at any time without any preconditions. Palestinians may just not be interested in this, he added.

On March 22 Netanyahu said that Israel is ready to start talks on the issue of peaceful coexistence of two neighboring states immediately and without any preconditions but added that Abbas does not support this idea.
