SEOUL, March 29. /TASS/. North Korea has fired a short-range missile into Sea of Japan, South Korean Yonhap news agency said on Tuesday.

No details are available as of now. At the beginning of March, Pyongyang fired six short-range missiles into Sea of Japan from a port city of Wonsan, where a large North Korean navy base is stationed.

China shares concern of other countries over the situation on the Korean Peninsula and calls on all sides to demonstrate restraint with an aim of preserving peace in this region, Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Hong Lei told a briefing.

North Korean Foreign Minister Lee Su-yong told TASS on Monday that the situation on the Korean Peninsula is on the verge of a full-scale war due to the activities of the United States, which constantly holds joint military exercises with South Korea.

"We also think that the situation on the Korean Peninsula is currently very fragile and complicated. We hope that in current conditions, all sides will be able to remain calm and demonstrate restraint, will not carry out provocative actions against each other, and will not make provocative speeches, in order to preserve peace and security on the Korean Peninsula," Hong Lei said.

He noted that "China’s efforts are mostly aimed at preventing disorder and war on the peninsula." "At the same time, the current situation also demonstrates the necessity to seek the resolution of the Korean nuclear problem," the spokesman noted.
