Ukraine’s president urges PM, prosecutor general to resign
"In order to restore confidence in the authorities, the president urged the prosecutor general and the premier to step down," the presidential spokesman wrote on Twitter
KIEV, February 16. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has called on Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk to resign to restore trust in the authorities, presidential spokesman Svyatoslav Tsegolko wrote on Twitter Tuesday.
"In order to restore confidence in the authorities, the president urged the prosecutor general and the premier to step down," Tsegolko said.
"It is evident that both society and the authorities are discontented with the rates of changes [in the country]. It is evident that we need to speed up positive transformations, speed up reforms. It is evident that since the year start, we slowed down," Poroshenko’s address to compatriots published on his website said.
The president also noted that "the government lost support on the part of the coalition."
He said "society decided that there are more mistakes (in the cabinet’s work) than achievements, and denied the ministers trust."
