WASHINGTON, February 11. /TASS/. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reached an agreement in principle with Ukraine on a roadmap of reforms aimed to ensure the further financial support to the ailing Ukrainian economy, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde said on Wednesday after a phone talk with Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko.

Referring to the talk as constructive, Lagarde said the Ukrainian leader had reassured her of his commitment to a reform path, in particular efficient state management and counter-corruption steps.

"We agreed on the principle of a roadmap of actions and priority measures to ensure prompt progress under the program, which will help keep Ukraine on a path toward robust and sustainable (economic) growth," she said.

Earlier, Lagarde said the IMF could cut short financial support to Ukraine if Kiev failed to implement promised reforms.
