Finnish police are investigating 89 cases of illegal refugee entry into Finland, 82 of which occurred at the Russian-Finnish border
HELSINKI, February 4. /TASS/. Finnish police say they suspect 13 Russian nationals of helping illegal immigrants seeking to enter Finland through the border with Russia.
"We are investigating 89 cases of illegal refugee entry into Finland, 82 of which occurred at the Russian-Finnish border," Marko Saareks told TASS on Thursday. "Thirteen Russian nationals are among the suspects."
Between 20 and 50 asylum seekers reach Finland daily, most arriving from Russia. Border police say the majority travel without entry documents or Schengen visas.
More than 32,000 refugees reached Finland last year.Those found guilty of supporting illegal entry may face up to two years' jail.
