Red Cross delivers around 3,000 packages of humanitarian aid to LPR
The administration said that ICRC delivers humanitarian aid to persons with disabilities, students, orphans and children in difficult situations
MOSCOW, January 26. /TASS/. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has started giving out humanitarian aid to residents of the Antrasitovsky district in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), the district’s administration said on Tuesday.
"A total of 2,938 individual food packages and the same number of hygienic packages were delivered to the town of Antrasit. Each food package includes sunflower oil, cereals, pasta, sugar, canned meat and fish, yeast, wheat flour. Each hygienic package contains toothbrush and toothpaste, detergent, shampoo, soap," Lugansk Inform Center quoted the administration as saying.
The administration said that ICRC delivers humanitarian aid to persons with disabilities, students, orphans and children in difficult situations.
"This is already the third ICRC humanitarian convoy that arrived in Donbas. The first convoy delivered 2,090 packages in April 2015, the second — 2,424 packages in November 2015," the administration reminded.
The humanitarian situation in Donbas remains complicated. The Minsk accords on settling the conflict in Donbass were signed on 12 February 2015, after negotiations in the so-called "Normandy format" in the Belarusian capital Minsk, bringing together Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
The Minsk also accords envisage weaponry withdrawal, prisoner exchange, local election in Donbass, constitutional reform in Ukraine and establishing working sub-groups on security, political, economy and humanitarian components of the Minsk accords.
The Ukrainian forces and the self-defense forces of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk republics have repeatedly accused each other of violating ceasefire and other points of the Minsk agreements.
