Unknown gunmen open fire at entrance of hotel in Hurghada
An Austrian couple and a Swedish man were wounded, when unknown gunmen attacked Bella Vista Resort hotel in the Red Sea beach town of Hurghada
CAIRO, January 9. /TASS/. An Egyptian healthcare official has refuted media reports claiming three tourists were killed on Friday when unknown gunmen attacked Bella Vista Resort hotel in the Red Sea beach town of Hurghada.
There were no casualties among the tourists but an Austrian couple and a Swedish man were wounded, said the official representative in of the Healthcare Ministry in the Red Sea Governorate.
All the wounded had uncomplicated wounds and were in a stable condition.
Egyptian media said the police guarding the area had killed two of the attacking gunmen and seized one alive.
Early information suggested the attackers had broken into the lobby of the hotel and opened indiscriminate fire there but policemen had reacted briskly by opening retaliatory fire.
Security forces sealed off all the roads leading to and out of the town and the authorities declared a state of emergency there.
