European Commission to toughen cash flow control to fight against terrorism financing

The initiative followed a series of terror attacks in Paris on November 6 when 130 people were killed and another 350 wounded

BRUSSELS, December 8. /TASS/. The European Union (EU) Council has ordered the European Commission to draft proposals on toughening cash flows in order to enhance anti-terrorism efforts, European Commissioner for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis said on Tuesday.

"The ministers ordered the European Commission to prepare proposals on fighting against terrorism financing in the shortest terms, including toughening control of the cash flow," Dombrovskis said following the meeting of the ministers of the EU’s Economic and Financial Affairs Council.

Luxemburg, which holds current presidency of the EU Council, has proposed to consider the working out of extra measures for fighting against terrorism financing.

The initiative followed a series of terror attacks rocked Paris on November 6 with shootings, bomb blasts and hostage taking. The death toll reached 130; another 350 were injured.
