Turkey confirms detention of two Russians on suspicion of ties with IS

The police raids took place in Antalya and neighboring cities of Alanya and Manavgat in Belek municipality, where the G20 summit will take place on November 15-16

ANKARA, November 6. /TASS/. The Russian consulate in the Turkish resort city of Antalya has received the confirmation of the detention of two Russians suspected of ties with the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, the consul told TASS on Monday.

"We have received the confirmation of the Turkish authorities on the detention of two Russian men," Alexey Shivanov said. "The investigation is underway."

Earlier on Monday Turkish TV reported that police in Antalya detained 20 people on suspicion of ties with IS, including two Russian nationals. The detainees are suspected of contacts with Syrian and Iraqi militants.
