KIEV, October 6. /TASS/. Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Radical Party Igor Mosiychuk has refused to run for Kiev’s Mayor. Mosiychuk is currently under arrest on charges of corruption and hooliganism.

"I want to thank leader Oleg Lyashko and all members of the Radica Party for trust and faith in me," Mosiychuk wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday. "However, I made a decision to withdraw my candidacy from running for Kiev’s Mayor," he added.

On September 17, Rada deputies approved launching a criminal case and arresting Mosiychuk on corruption charges. The MP was detained in the building of the Ukrainian parliament and brought to a detention center. On the next day, Kiev’s Pechersky court ruled to arrest Mosiychuk until November 15. He is charged with "obtaining illegal benefit as an official", "hooliganism", "threat or violence toward an official or civilian on a civil duty", "interference into affairs of judicial authorities", "threats or violence toward a judge, lay judge or juror."

The Radical Party considers Mosiychuk to be a political prisoner. "Political prisoner Igor Mosiychuk is our candidate for Kiev’s Mayor," Lyashko said at the end of September.
