Kyrgyzstan supports air strikes on IS positions in Syria — president
"Fighting IS is in the interests of Kyrgyzstan, and in this aspect we support Russia’s air strikes on positions of terrorists in Syria," he said
BISHKEK, October 4. /TASS/. Countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation [CSTO] first of all should think about protecting their borders, but since the Islamic State (IS) has announced its objective to seize big territories, Kyrgyzstan supports the Russian air strikes in Syria on positions of terrorists there, Kyrgyzstan’s President Almazbek Atambayev said on Sunday.
"Fighting IS is in the interests of Kyrgyzstan, and in this aspect we support Russia’s air strikes on positions of terrorists in Syria," he said, adding the air strikes are effective.
"I support the actions of Russia," he said. "If a country does not have a legitimate government, it is falling apart."
Similar events were in Libya, and a similar situation is in Iraq now, he said.
On Sunday, Kyrgyzstan has parliamentary elections.
