Tajik security services arrested 13 party activists on suspicion of involvement in the activities of a rebel general

DUSHANBE, September 29. /TASS/. The Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan has been placed on the list of extremist and terrorist organizations, the country’s Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday.

According to the court decision, the Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan has been outlawed, and its activities in the country have been prohibited.

Tajikistan’s Prosecutor-General’s Office earlier sent a legal claim to the Supreme Court requesting to ban the party. On September 16, the Prosecutor-General’s Office accused the leadership of this party of "crime affiliations with the terrorist group of former Deputy Defense Minister Abduhalim Nazarzoda and financing the party from abroad." On September 17, Tajik security services arrested 13 party activists on suspicion of involvement in the activities of Nazarzoda. Ten days later the detainees were charged with creating a criminal association, which provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years with the confiscation of property.
