UNITED NATIONS, September 28. /TASS/. A broad international coalition on the settlement of the Syrian conflict should be formed on the basis of agreements formulated at the 2012 conference in Geneva, French President Francois Hollande told a session of the UN General Assembly on Monday.

"France wants to work (on Syria) with all, it does not reject any of the countries. A broad coalition is possible, moreover it is desirable and necessary for ensuring the crisis settlement," the French leader said.

However, "this coalition must have a clear basis, otherwise there can be no coalition," he continued, noting that the Geneva agreements approved three years ago should be this basis.

"This means the setting up of a transitional coalition government that would include representatives from the present government and the opposition," he noted.

Incumbent President Bashar al-Assad could not be part in the transitional process, he reiterated. "Bashar al-Assad cannot be incorporated in this process. It is impossible to make the victim and the executioner work together," the French president said.
