Estonian border guards refuse entry for executive of Rossiya Segodnya news agency
The Russian diplomatic mission in Estonia calls this incident an attempt to restrict the freedom of speech and to employ double standards in regard to unfavorable media
MOSCOW, September 14. /TASS/. Estonian border authorities declined an entry to the country to an executive staffer of the Russian News Agency Rossiya Segodnya, the Russian Embassy in Estonia reported on its FaceBook account on Monday.
According to the embassy, Maria Perekryostova, agency’s deputy director of the multimedia programs, was refused an entry after she landed in Tallinn on an Aeroflot flight.
"We consider this incident as an attempt to restrict the freedom of speech, to employ double standards in regard to unfavorable media and to limit access of the Estonian people to different opinions rather than those dominating the local media market," the Russian diplomatic mission in Estonia said in its statement.
The statement added that the embassy’s staff "intend to request proper explanations over the incident in the Estonian Foreign Ministry."
