Russian medics cure some 70% of Ebola patients who asked them for treatement in Guinea
MOSCOW, August 20. /TASS/. Russian epidemiologists have treated 96 people suffering from the deadly Ebola virus disease in Guinea and cured 70% of patients, Russia’s consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor press service said on Thursday, commenting on annual doctors’ report.
"The Russian-Guinean hospital in the Kindia Region [western Guinea] has treated 96 Ebola-infected patients, the numbers of successfully recovered exceed 70%," Rospotrebnadzor said.
The work of the Russian medical team, started last August, was highly evaluated by the World Health Organization and the anti-Ebola committee in Guinea.
The Ebola virus outbreak started in December 2013 in West Africa. The number of victims has reached 11,283 people, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). More than 27,900 people are infected.
