Other Ukrainian nationalist groups join Right Sector protest in Kiev
The protesters demand dismissing Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and releasing those held last month in connection with the murder of a well-known Ukrainian journalist Oles Buzina in mid-April
KIEV, July 16. /TASS/. Activists of Ukraine’s nationalist Sich organization have joined the protest staged by the Right Sector extremist group outside the Ukrainian presidential administration building in Kiev, a TASS correspondent reported from the scene on Thursday.
The protesters demand dismissing Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and releasing those held last month in connection with the murder of a well-known Ukrainian journalist Oles Buzina in mid-April.
Buzina was shot dead near his home in the Ukrainian capital on April 16. He used to be the editor-in-chief of the Segodnya newspaper but had to quit his post because of censorship in March this year.
Two men, Andrei Medvedko and Denis Polishchuk, were detained in mid-June by Ukraine’s police and taken into custody.
The Right Sector, which is banned in Russia, continues its indefinite protest outside the presidential administration building. The protesters stay on Bankovskaya Street round-the-clock.
At the moment, some 100 protesters of both the Right Sector and Sich are near the building. On Sunday, the protesters are convening the people’s assembly known as "veche" on the Independence Square, in downtown Kiev.
