The deal between Iran and P5+1 group (five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) guarantees the "exclusively peaceful" nature of Tehran’s nuclear program, Mogherini said.

VIENNA, July 14. /TASS/. EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini announced on Tuesday that six world powers and Iran have reached a comprehensive nuclear accord after more than a decade of the diplomatic marathon.

"This is an historic day," Mogherini told the news conference in Vienna alongside Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif after the 19-day Vienna round of talks.

"It is a great honor" to declare that the agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue has been secured, she said, stressing that "we are creating the conditions for building trust and opening a new chapter in our relationship."

The deal between Iran and P5+1 group (five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) guarantees the "exclusively peaceful" nature of Tehran’s nuclear program, Mogherini said.

Mogherini stressed the full implementation of the document, called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, will positively contribute to regional and international peace and security.

"Iran reaffirms that under no circumstances will Iran ever seek, develop or acquire any nuclear weapons," the joint statement posted on the EU’s external action service website says.

The implementation of all the agreements, including Iran’s own long-term plan with agreed limitations on its nuclear program, will lead to "the comprehensive lifting of all UN Security Council sanctions as well as multilateral and national sanctions related to Iran’s nuclear program."

"Based on its long-term plan, for 15 years, Iran will carry out its uranium enrichment-related activities, including safeguarded R&D exclusively in the Natanz Enrichment facility, keep its level of uranium enrichment at up to 3.67%, and, at Fordow, refrain from any uranium enrichment and uranium enrichment R&D and from keeping any nuclear material," the plan of action reads.

Under the agreement, the arms embargo against Iran will stay in place for another five years. Sanctions may be restored within 65 days if Tehran violates the deal. The agreement will come into force 90 days after the date of adoption of the UN Security Council’s resolution. The document also says the resolution will be in force for 10 years.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said earlier on Tuesday Moscow welcomes the agreements on Iran and will do everything it can to see the agreements reached in Vienna implemented in full.

"Iran gets a possibility to develop this program, including uranium enrichment, under control from the IAEA and with a phased lifting of the sanctions imposed against Tehran, which we had insistently urged for a long time," says the statement the Russian leader posted on the Kremlin website.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the deal "was fully consistent with the task set in Russia’s Foreign Policy Concept, specifically to achieve recognition of Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear activities, including the right to enrich uranium under the tight control of the IAEA, with the clarification of all outstanding issues and the lifting of all anti-Iranian sanctions."
