Tajikistani President Emomali Rakhmon and President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani held a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Ufa on Thursday to discuss cooperation in the fields of politics, security, economy and trade, energy and transport, the press service of the Tajikistani president reported on Friday.

"The sides had a useful discussion on the implementation of advantageous regional projects for the construction of the Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan, China-Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran railways, the CASA-1000 power transmission line and the Afghanistan-Tajikistan gas pipeline," the press service said.

The parties discussed issues related to stepping up cooperation between their security agencies to ensure stability in the region.
