Poroshenko, Obama discuss situation in Donbas ahead of G7 summit
According to the Ukrainian press service, "Obama pledged full support for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine"
KIEV, June 5. /TASS/. The Ukrainian and US presidents, Petro Poroshenko and Barack Obama, had a telephone conversation on Friday to discuss the latest developments in Donbas ahead of a G7 summit, the press service of the Ukrainian president reported.
"President Poroshenko and President Obama stated that the full implementation of the Minsk agreements is a guarantee of peaceful settlement in Donbas," it said.
The press service said the presidents "coordinated positions ahead of a meeting of the G7 leaders, due in Germany on June 7, in particular as to continuation of pressure on Russia".
According to the press service, "Obama pledged full support for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine". The Ukrainian president, for his part, thanked his counterpart "for substantial assistance in the strengthening of Ukraine’s defence capability, in particular through joint exercises, and urged for future cooperation".
