Ukraine’s cabinet on May 12 approved a list of state-owned facilities which are to be privatized in 2015

KIEV, May 25. /TASS/. The issue on privatizing the Ukrainian land should be considered at the all-national referendum rather than by the government, a deputy chairman of the Opposition Bloc's parliamentary faction said on Monday.

"The issue of the Ukrainian land sales should be considered only during the referendum," Alexander Vilkul said stressing that neither lawmakers nor the cabinet of ministers should decide on these issues.

"At first, they picked the Ukrainians’ pockets, taking their salaries and pensions, ruined the banking system and the national currency, and increased the country’s debts before foreign creditors," Vilkul said.

"Now, amid the crisis, they have put up the backbone enterprises for sale. The next step is the total sale of the Ukrainian land," the lawmaker stressed.

The Opposition Bloc believes that the government should be dismissed for the attempts "to sell the strategic assets for a farthing," he said, adding: "We are totally against squandering the country."

The lawmaker reminded that back in December 2014 the opposition members submitted a draft law on extending a moratorium on sales and purchases of agricultural lands.

Ukraine’s cabinet on May 12 approved a list of state-owned facilities which are to be privatized in 2015. The decision covers over 300 enterprises, including those initially not planned for privatization.
