MOSCOW, May 18. /TASS/. It is too early to talk about any decisions on the Ukrainian conflict resolution after the Moscow meeting with US Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin told TASS on Monday.

"We have the Russian president's orders to establish bilateral contacts after the meeting with the [US] state secretary [John Kerry] to discuss certain issues of the Ukrainian crisis resolution," Karasin said. "That's exactly what we are doing."

"We are trying to find those forms of cooperation that would, first of all, prevent a new round of the armed conflict in [Ukraine's] southeast and help launch a real dialogue between the Kiev government and representatives of the DPR and LPR [self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk republics]," he said. "So far, this goal has not been achieved. Kiev is ignoring all the initiatives coming from Donetsk and Luhansk."

"Mrs. Nuland has just been to Kiev, where she met with practically all Ukrainian leaders. She is telling us Ukraine ostensibly has no intention to resume combat operations. The course of life is still to put this to test. At this point one has the impression that preparations for this kind of operations are in progress there," Karasin said.

"A detailed discussion centered round the work of the Contact Group and the four sectoral subgroups, since these efforts will make it possible to finally reach some concrete agreements on Ukraine’s new constitutional format, on elections, on a number of other problems, including humanitarian, economic, security and so on," he noted.

"We agreed to have contacts as and when necessary," the Russian diplomat said. "In any case, I think such contacts are useful and may yield actual results."

He said the United States’ possible participation in the Normandy Format and in the Contact Group on Ukraine had been discussed in general terms. "We discussed it in very general terms," Karasin said. "To my mind, the existing formats and the dialogue Russia and the United States have launched on the Ukrainian crisis are mutually complementary, and, probably, such combination is more efficient than any transformation of the existing formats. Time will show."
