PYONGYANG, May 4. /TASS/. Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (parliament) of North Korea Kim Yong-nam will pay a visit to Russia to take part in festive events on May 9 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s Victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Monday.

Kim Yong-nam has led the unicameral parliament of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) since 1998. He is believed to be No. 2 in the state hierarchy of North Korea.

On April 30, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said DPRK leader Kim Jong-un will not come to Moscow for the 70th Victory anniversary events due to internal North Korean affairs.
