Joint efforts of Russia and Pakistan in fighting drug-related crimes in Afghanistan will contribute to stabilizing the situation in this country, Viktor Ivanov said
MOSCOW, April 20. /TASS/. Joint efforts of Russia and Pakistan in fighting drug-related crimes in Afghanistan will contribute to stabilizing the situation in this country, head of Russia’s Federal Drug Control Service Viktor Ivanov told the Rossiya 24 TV channel on Monday.
"Pakistan as a rather big power is a fairly serious political and economic player in the Central Asian region, where Afghanistan localized giant and large-scale production of the most aggressive narcotic - heroin. Pakistan interacting with Russia and, possibly, with Iran is capable of taking the necessary steps for stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan," Ivanov said.
He added that the other day he had been appointed chairman of the Russian part of the Russian-Pakistani inter-governmental commission.
