MINSK, March 27. /TASS/. Belarus has become a "stability donor" in Eastern Europe in the conditions of tense international relations, Belarusian First Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Mikhnevich said on Friday at the Minsk Dialogue conference.

"Belarus has in fact become a stability donor and the only country in Eastern Europe that at the moment has no territorial disputes with neighbors, internal conflicts on national and religious grounds," Mikhnevich said.

Thanks to the positive and constructive vector of its foreign policy, Minsk became suitable platform for talks on the Ukrainian crisis, the deputy minister stressed.

"Today, the world faces absolutely new geopolitical realities and threats, while international relations have become unprecedentedly tense," the diplomat said. "The number of regional conflicts is growing, there are attempts to return to elements of bloc confrontation," he added. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, real rapprochement has not happened between the West and the East, though there were opportunities to achieve this, he noted.

"The latest developments in Eastern Europe showed that the mere posing of the question on unilateral geopolitical choice may be erroneous and counter-productive for countries," Mikhnevich said.
