BERLIN, March 6. /TASS/. Germany's Interior Ministry has data on almost 650 radical Islamists fighting for the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, head of the ministry Thomas de Maiziere said on Thursday.
The official said the ministry also has information on over 1,000 individuals that can pose a potential threat to national security.
In 2014 de Maiziere announced the decision to deprive radical Islamists having fought in conflict zones of their IDs as the authorities fear the radicals may pose a terrorist threat on return to Germany.
On September 12 Berlin officially banned the Islamic State in Germany.
