Chechen leader calls on the West to admit failure of sanctions policy toward Russia
Obama, Kerry, Merkel and others were naive in thinking they could destroy Russia with sanctions — the effect is opposite, 90% of Russians support Putin’s policy, Kadyrov wrote in a social network
GROZNY, March 4. /TASS/. Chechnya’s head Ramzan Kadyrov has called upon the US and other Western countries to come to their senses and admit the failure of the sanctions policy towards Russia.
"US and Europe should come to their senses, admit the failure of sanctions policy and live in peace and harmony with Russia," Kadyrov wrote in his social network account.
"US Secretary of State John Kerry is worried that sanctions failed to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to change his strategy. The state secretary does not know the history of Russia, our people and our national leader if he could ever think that someone can impose his will on Vladimir Putin and Russian people. We have a free society, which consists of people with different opinions. However, we are united in support for our leader and in hatred towards our enemy," Kadyrov said.
"[US President Barack] Obama, Kerry, [German Chancellor Angela] Merkel and others were naive in thinking they could destroy Russia with sanctions. They were wrong. The effect is opposite. Around 90% of Russians support Vladimir Putin’s policy. There is nothing like this anywhere in the world," he added.
