EU to grant Kiev €2.1 billion in macro-economic aid — commissioner
At a meeting with Ukraine's president Poroshenko the EU envoy confirmed Europe’s readiness to provide expert and financial assistance for the continuation of the reforms in the country
KIEV, February 19. /TASS/. The European Union plans to grant Kiev €2.1 billion in macro-economic assistance this year, EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Johannes Hahn said at a meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the presidential press office reported on Thursday.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the EU-Ukraine association agreement and reforms under way in the country.
The EU envoy confirmed Europe’s readiness to provide expert and financial assistance for the continuation of the reforms.
Poroshenko said he perceived the EU commissioner’s visit as "proof of the European Commission’s support for the Ukrainian authorities’ reformation efforts and as evidence of united Europe’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the most difficult times of our history."
