Over 30 civilians killed in Kiev’s bombing of Gorlovka — Donetsk republic deputy commander
The Ukrainian military used 500-kilogram FAB-500 bombs with a casualty radius of 200 meters in densely populated areas
DONETSK, January 19. /TASS/. More than 30 civilians, including children, were killed in bombing of the town of Gorlovka in eastern Ukraine by Ukrainian warplanes, Eduard Basurin, deputy commander of the headquarters of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) said on Monday.
He said serious damage has been done to the town’s infrastructure and residential buildings. He said the bombing took place on Sunday, for the first time since summer. “Kiev used military aviation, for the first time since the last summer having dropped air bombs on Gorlovka’s residential districts,” he said, adding that the Ukrainian military used 500-kilogram FAB-500 bombs with a casualty radius of 200 meters in densely populated areas.
Also, he said Ukrainian troops for the first time used the tactic of “blind” bombing. “We think Ukrainian pilots are simply afraid of flying at low altitudes because of heavy losses from our air defense systems last summer,” he added.
