Contact Group talks in Minsk failed due to situation at Donetsk airport, non-agreed agenda
The source close to the talks told TASS Kiev representatives did not come to the meeting in Belarusian capital
MINSK, January 16. /TASS/. Today’s Minsk talks of the Contact Group on the Ukrainian settlement have been frustrated because of the situation around the Donetsk airport and the failure to agree on the agenda, a source close to the talks that were to be held on Friday in the Belarusian capital, told TASS.
“It looks like there will be a long and tense break in the talks,” the source said.
“Kiev simply did not come, although representatives of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe), DPR (Donetsk People’s Republic) and LPR (Luhansk People’s Republic) were in Minsk,” the source noted, adding that the sides in the long run had failed to agree the agenda. “Apart from that, the situation around the Donetsk airport obviously was a reason.”
