Russia to provide humanitarian aid to Donbas as much as required — Emergencies Ministry
Russia’s Emergencies Ministry is planning to send the regular humanitarian convoy to eastern Ukraine in early 2015
MOSCOW, December 26. /TASS/. Russia will provide humanitarian aid to eastern Ukraine as much as it is required, Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov said on Friday.
The ministry works jointly with other federal structures. “We’ll help as much as it is necessary,” he said.
“I’d like measures to be taken to increase the social security system for paying pensions and allowances. But it depends on the Ukrainian colleagues,” Puchkov said.
Russia’s Emergencies Ministry is planning to send the regular humanitarian convoy to eastern Ukraine in early 2015, Puchkov said.
“We’ll prepare the next convoy due to be sent in the beginning of January,” he said.
Humanitarian aid is being formed due to the needs of Donbas. “We’ll additionally supply foodstuffs, including baby foods, medicines, particularly insulin. We’ll supply equipment of the stable work of the energy sector and socially significant facilities,” Puchkov said.“We’ll also supply warm clothes, especially for orphanages,” he said.
The ministry only deals with the delivery of cargoes and not with their distribution. “Self-government bodies distribute humanitarian aid. Public organisations, which are involved in the work, control transparency of the delivery of cargoes,” Puchkov said.
“Russia strictly adheres to all international requirements. We coordinate all issues with the Ukrainian colleagues,” Puchkov said.
Totally, the ninth convoys have delivered 13,400 tonnes of humanitarian cargoes to Donbass since mid-August.
