The diplomat criticized the United States for what he described as not serious behaviour in the struggle against terrorism

MOSCOW, December 17. /TASS/. Teheran will not let terrorists shape the future of the Middle and Near East, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollohian told a news conference at TASS on Wednesday.

“We shall not permit terrorist groups to shape the future of our region,” he said. “Some countries’ obvious support for terrorists and attempts to use them as a tool is deplorable.”

“In Iraq we see a fundamental struggle against terrorism, against the Islamic State,” Abdollohian said. “Iran was one of the first to have extended its assistance to Iraq.”

US not serious about struggle with terrorism

The diplomat criticized the United States for what he described as not serious behaviour in the struggle against terrorism.

He said the US has taken “hasty steps to create a coalition,” but in all other respects Washington’s behaviour is not serious.

“The great successes that have been achieved in Iraq in the fight against terrorism are a result of efforts by the Iraqi authorities, the army, the people and the religious leader,” Abdollohian said.

He promised that Iran would do its utmost to promote the struggle against terrorism.

“At the request of Iraq’s legitimate government we have sent our military advisers to Baghdad,” he recalled.
