BRUSSELS, December 15. /TASS/. Ukraine fully complies with the ceasefire regime in Donbass (the eastern Ukrainian Donetsk and Luhansk regions), Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin told a foreign ministerial session of the Group of Friends of Ukraine on Monday.

“The Ukrainian side fully observes the ceasefire regime and seeks a political settlement on the basis of a peace plan of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and the Minsk agreements,” the top diplomat told reporters after the session.

“I informed the meeting in detail on the situation around Donetsk and Luhansk, and we discussed preparations for next events, including the first session of the Ukraine-EU Association Council,” Klimkin said.

“EU’s readiness to consistently support Ukraine, including on a bilateral level, to work on the basis of solidarity principle on deescalation of the situation in Donbas,” was the main result of the meeting, the Ukrainian foreign minister said.

“The main thing that I heard was readiness of the European Union and certain countries to lend assistance and contribute to Ukrainian reforms,” he said. “That is what we will be working on,” he added.

Klimkin also said that together with the foreign ministers of Visegrad Group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) he would fly on Tuesday to the Ukrainian capital Kiev where Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, was also due to arrive.

The parties to the Ukrainian conflict agreed on a ceasefire at talks mediated by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on September 5 in Belarusian capital Minsk two days after Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed his plan to settle the situation in the east of Ukraine. The ceasefire took effect the same day but has reportedly been violated on numerous occasions.
