The self-proclaimed donetsk People's Republic takes measures to prevent the consequences of the Ukrainian economic blockade

DONETSK, December 5. /TASS/. The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic has felt the attempts Ukraine’s blockade, the republic’s head, Alexander Zakharchenko, said on Friday.

“The transport blockade exists partially,” he said.

“Fortunately, people at Ukrainian road blocks are reasonable and they let transport pass,” Zakharchenko said.

However, there are cases when transport is not allowed to pass when it carries lubricants, medications and foodstuffs, he said.

“Ukraine is pushing off part of the territory by this blockade,” Zakharchenko said.

The republic takes measures to prevent the consequences of the Ukrainian economic blockade, he said.

On December 4, the DPR worked out a set of measures to respond to the economic blockade in some areas of Ukraine.

“The measures are aimed at ensuring stable payments of pensions and social allowances, as well as operation of social and labour organizations,” the Novorossiya press center quoted Zakharchenko as saying.

“The leadership of the Donetsk People’s Republic has worked out a plan of events that would allow us to support socially vulnerable groups of the population, create our own financial institutions remaining in the hryvnia zone instead of those that stopped their operations on an order from Kiev, and ensure social and economic stability in the republic,” an introduction to the roadmap says.

The DPR roadmap consists of three key document packages: a map designed to ensure temporary operation of the banking system in the DPR, a plan on measures to ensure payment of pensions and social allowances, and a map to create the DPR’s financial and budget system.

A similar roadmap was approved by head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic Igor Plotnitsky.
