Tusk, Poroshenko call for settlement in eastern Ukraine in compliance with Minsk accords

European Council President Donald Tusk and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a telephone conversation
BRUSSELS, December 3 /TASS/. European Council President Donald Tusk and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko called for a peaceful settlement in eastern Ukraine on the basis of the Minsk agreements by telephone on Wednesday.
"We stressed the need to continue the peace process in compliance with the Minsk agreements. A political settlement (of the conflict) should be reached with full observation of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence, Tusk said.
He added that the European Council would closely watch the situation and would react accordingly dependent on how the events were going to unfold.
