SEOUL, November 27. /TASS/. South Korea's chief nuclear envoy will make a four-day visit to Russia next week to discuss the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and North Korea's nuclear program, Seoul's foreign ministry said on Thursday.

Hwang Joon-kook, Seoul's top negotiator on the long-stalled six-party nuclear talks, will arrive in Russia on December 1 to meet with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov, the ministry said.

Launched in 2003, the six-party talks involving the two Koreas, the United States, China, Russia and Japan have been stalled since late 2008.

“We basically share with Russia the notion that North Korea's nuclear programs will not be tolerated and it will never be acknowledged as a nuclear state,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Noh Kwang-il was quoted as saying by Yonhap news agency.

Hwang's visit to Russia aims to exchange views on the overall situation of the Korean Peninsula, including the North's recent diplomatic activities, and to discuss ways to resolve North Korea's nuclear issues, he was cited as saying.
