VIENNA, November 24. /TASS/. The parties at the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program have made considerable progress, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday after the Vienna round of the negotiations of Iran and six world powers (five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany).

“Considerable progress at the Iranian nuclear programme negotiations has been made. Within three or four months we hope to sign a document including all basic principles the implementation of which will be subject to the technical consultations,” the minister said commenting on the round of the Iranian nuclear issue settlement talks.

Another round of talks between Iran and the sextet of international negotiators at the level of political directors will take place soon, Russian Foreign Minister said.

“Another round at the level of our deputies — political directors — is due soon. They have done the lion’s share of the work required to achieve the results we have today,” Lavrov said. “All Sextet members and the Iranian foreign minister are determined to work with energy and without any pauses."

Geneva agreement remains on force

According to Sergey Lavrov, the Geneva agreement between six world powers and Iran remains in force and the parties will make an additional statement on this.

“The Geneva agreement remains in force, it contains the principles nobody has called into question, and coordinator of the "six" Catherine Ashton and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif will announce this today,” Lavrov said.

The deadline of the Geneva agreements reached on November 24, 2013 expires on Monday. Under the document, Iran assumes obligations to curtail its nuclear program and get in exchange some easing of the sanctions regime and unfreezing its accounts in Western banks.

The document also stipulates additional control measures by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Next round of talks possible in Oman

Oman is acceptable for all parties to the talks between Iran and the P5+1 group of international mediators (five members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany) as a venue for the next round of negotiations in mid-December, sources in a number of delegations told TASS on Monday.

“Oman, as a venue for next meeting, is quite acceptable for Western countries,” a representative of a Western delegation told TASS. “It is acceptable for the United States, the European countries, and, as far as we understand, for Russia too.”

A source in the Iranian delegation also confirmed that “it is rather comfortable” to have talks in Muscat.
