Practically no chances to work out agreement between Iran, P5+1 in time - source
Iran says it needs nuclear power to generate electricity, but Western powers led by the United States claim Iran’s eventual aim is to create nuclear weapons
VIENNA, November 24. /TASS/. There are practically no chances to work out an agreement between Iran and the six international negotiators on its nuclear program (P5+1) in time, a diplomatic source in the Western delegation confirmed to TASS after a dinner of the top diplomats of some P5+1 countries organized by the British foreign secretary.
The foreign policy chiefs of the United States, Britain, France, Germany and EU coordinator Catherine Ashton attended the working dinner.
Iran says it needs nuclear power to generate electricity, but Western powers led by the United States claim Iran’s eventual aim is to create nuclear weapons.
The six international negotiators on Iran’s nuclear program, P5+1 - the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, and France plus Germany - and Tehran agreed a plan of joint actions in Geneva November 24, 2013.
It in particular envisioned that Iran will get rid of half of accumulated uranium enriched to 20% and will dilute the second half to the 5-percent mark. In turn, the P5+1 pledged to ease sanctions on Tehran.
At the currently ongoing talks, the sides have so far failed to work out a comprehensive agreement.
