Reports on North Korean Yongbyon nuclear reactor activity need verification — Lavrov
Many reports have appeared recently suggesting that preparations are underway for new missile tests in North Korea
MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. In the view of Moscow, the media reports about some activity at North Korea’s weapons-grade plutonium-producing laboratory at the Yongbyon nuclear scientific research center should be verified, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday.
“We have already said than many reports of the kind have appeared recently suggesting that preparations are underway for new missile tests,” Lavrov said. “Such claims should be backed by facts, not by media allegations.”
Russia proposes in this connection to resume the activity of the working group on the Korean Peninsula security issues “in which all the concerns can be professionally discussed.” “We hope that the partners will support this proposal,” the foreign minister said.
