Ukraine PM names candidates to new government

Arseniy Yatsenyuk has backed Petro Poroshenko's candidates for the posts of defense and foreign ministers

KIEV, November 14. /TASS/. Ukrainian Prime Minister, leader of the People’s Front Arseniy Yatsenyuk who will most likely head the government again made proposals on Friday on the new cabinet of ministers. He announced the list of the candidates at a special conference.

Yatsenyuk proposes to appoint representative of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Volodymyr Groysman as vice premier - minister of regional development who currently holds this position. According to Yatsenyuk, representative of the Samopomich (Self-Help) party Ivan Miroshnichenko should take the post of vice premier on agrarian issues. He proposes to give the humanitarian block to the Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party. The prime minister says that Arsen Avakov (People’s Front) should again become the interior minister.

Yatsenyuk also said that the People’s Front he heads is ready to support candidates from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc to the posts of the Ukrainian defense minister and foreign minister. “We are ready to support president’s candidates, namely Stepan Poltorak and Pavlo Klimkin for the posts of the defense and foreign ministers, correspondingly,” he said.

The prime minister also said the post of the vice premier for European integration in the new cabinet of ministers may be given “to a European leader,” adding that negotiations with this candidate were underway. He declined to disclose his name.

On the results of the October 26 Ukrainian parliamentary elections, the People’s Front movement that won the majority of votes by party lists has 82 deputy mandates in the new parliament. The Petro Poroshenko Bloc that came second has 132 mandates.
