Russian MP accuses US of secret financial support of Islamic State
The existence of Islamic State terrorist organization is the result of the US position and the policy pursued by it, Russia’s State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Alexey Pushkov says
MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. Russia’s State Duma (lower house) Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Alexey Pushkov accused the USA of aiding the creation of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group and its secret financial support.
“The Islamic State was not born on its own. It is the result of the conscious purposeful activity of several Persian Gulf states, the US allies and the US itself. For a long time being obsessed by overthrowing Bashar al-Assad (President of Syria) they provided financial support to anyone,” Pushkov said by presenting the lower house’s draft statement “On Gross and Mass Violations of Rights of Religious and Ethnic Minorities in Light of Aggravation of Situation in Syria and Iraq”.
“All statements saying Americans sponsored only moderate armed groups and not finance non-moderate groups are of evil. There were no moderate groups in Syria. This is the result of the US position and the policy pursued by it,” he said.
The USA and its NATO allies show “surprising permissiveness” towards the IS in trade and economic issues. “The IS is freely trading oil on all oil markets. How can it be? The terrorist organization, which cut off heads of citizens of Western countries, exercises de facto the rights of oil trader. Nobody takes any sanctions. Anyone heard the State Secretary call for sanctions against the IS? This suggests how the US really treats the Islamic State,” Pushkov said.
He called on the world community to take united approaches towards fighting terrorism.
