Russia-Iran nuclear material agreement may be part of Iran’s deal with sextet — Ryabkov
In order to agree a potential pattern for the removal of Iran’s nuclear material to Russia all parameters of the overall deal must be coordinated first, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister says
VIENNA, November 7. /TASS/. Russia’s agreement with Iran on the removal of nuclear material may become part of a larger deal Iran may conclude with the sextet of international mediators, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told the media after one-day consultations by the sextet’s political directors.
“In order to agree a potential pattern for the removal of Iran’s nuclear material to Russia for the manufacture of nuclear fuel for the Bushehr reactor all parameters of the overall deal must be coordinated first,” he said. “Our partners know there is such an opportunity. We shall consider everything related to it only after general arrangements have been achieved,” Ryabkov said.
Such an agreement between Moscow and Teheran may become part of the deal in the sense it works for the main result — the restoration of international confidence about the exclusively peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program.
“It cannot be achieved without a common deal but helps come close to a common compromise,” Ryabkov said.
Agreement between Iran, P5+1 possible
Iran and the six international negotiators on Tehran’s nuclear program have chances to reach an agreement by November 24, Sergey Ryabkov said.
“I have a feeling that chances to agree are being formed,” Ryabkov said after coordination consultations in Vienna. “A detailed and consistent consideration of all problem points that hinder the achievement of a solution and remain the key sources of differences took place during the meeting.”
“All participants without exception expressed additional ideas. There is determination to try to put that all together in such a manner that the key compromises could be reached within the established time limit,” he said.
