KIEV, November 7. /TASS/. Cancelling laws on the special status of Donbass and amnesty will be one of the top priorities for Ukraine’s newly elected parliament, Ukrainian parliament speaker Oleksandr Turchynov said on Friday.

Shortly after the November 2 elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, the Verkhovna Rada registered several bills on revocation of the special status.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said in an address on Monday that Kiev was ready to enact a new law on Donbass special status which would draw clear-cut borders of districts with special local self-rule status.

However, among conditions for endorsing the new law he named several steps which the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics should take that would mean “a retreat” in the issue of the November 2 elections.

The authorities of the self-proclaimed republics said Kiev’s move to cancel the laws “deals a serious blow to the Minsk peace process” and called to adopt the new version of the law agreed during the consultations in the Belarusian capital.

The parties to the Ukrainian conflict signed a 12-point protocol in Minsk on September 5, in particular, on ceasefire and exchange of hostages. Two weeks later the sides adopted a memorandum on implementing the ceasefire regime.

The 9-point memorandum implies a ban on the use of all types of weapons and moving heavy hardware 15 kilometers away from the contact line. The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has been tasked with controlling its implementation.
