MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is not planning to increase the Russian military task force in Central Asian republics due to the withdrawal of coalition troops, CSTO Secretary-General Nikolai Bordyuzha said.

“There is no such need. There are enough troops to carry out any tasks. If it is necessary we can always use collective rapid reaction force,” Bordyuzha told the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly on Thursday.

At the same time, he said the CSTO is taking steps towards strengthening the border with Afghanistan. “Most serious attention is paid to the Tajik-Afghan border,” Bordyuzha said.

“Russia is taking measures to rearm Tajikistan’s armed forces and providing aid to Kyrgyzstan’s armed forces,” he said.

Jointly with the anti-drug agencies the CSTO is blocking channels of drug supplies from Afghanistan and coordinating efforts to ensure the country’s security, Bordyuzha said.
