SYDNEY, November 6. /TASS/. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott told reporters on Thursday he is planning to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming week to discuss the MH17 crash in Ukraine.

“So that will be the conversation that I’ll be having with Vladimir Putin at the earliest possible moment,” said after talks with his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte in Canberra.

The Australian leader said Russia as a member of the international community owes it to the world, owes it to humanity” to assist in the crash investigation and “ensure justice is done.

Abbott told reporters he could speak with Putin “one way or another” over the next week, either at the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) summit in Beijing or at the G20 gathering in Australia’s Brisbane.

The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777, en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region on July 17, killing all 298 people onboard, including 27 Australians.

Kiev blames militias in eastern Ukraine for downing the Malaysia Airlines plane. The latter maintain they do not possess weapons capable of bringing down an aircraft flying at 32,000 feet.

Russia says that Ukraine is fully responsible for the MH17 crash and should have admitted that it failed to control part of its territory. The fact that Ukraine did not do this is a serious violation of international aviation law.
