Ukraine’s defense ministry plans to buy arms worth $60 mln

As of November 3, the ministry’s arms purchase department signed 30 state contracts and agreements, the press service said

KIEV, November 6. /TASS/. Ukraine’s Defense Ministry plans to buy arms and military hardware to a sum of about $60 million, the press service of the ministry said on Wednesday.

As of November 3, the ministry’s arms purchase department signed 30 state contracts and agreements, the press service said.

In a period before September 26, 2014, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry received $1.3 billion, or 66.1% of planned defense spending. Over $620 million out of it was spent on army logistics and $750.5 million was used to pay allowances to servicemen.

On November 3, 2014, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree to increase financing of the defense ministry to 3% of the GDP and to conduct a number of measures to strengthen Ukraine’s army and the defense sector.
