No plans to hold talks on coal supplies from east Ukraine — Ukrainian energy minister
Kiev does not intend to provide financial support for the self-proclaimed republics, says Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuri Prodan
KIEV, November 5. /TASS/. Kiev is not planning to negotiate on coal supplies from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuri Prodan said on Wednesday.
“We are not holding any talks with the so-called republics,” Ukrinform quotes Prodan as saying.
Kiev does not intend to provide financial support for the self-proclaimed republics, he said.
Prodan said he did not rule out a possibility of buying coal at Donetsk and Luhansk regions state enterprises “if there is a chance to supply this coal to Ukraine”.
In addition to this, Yuri Prodan said that Naftogaz Ukrainy will receive compensation for expenses on gas supplies to the militia-held territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under a new bill which the government is going to prepare soon.
According to him, the compensation will be paid from the state budget.
“We will see how the situation is going to develop. As our prime minister says, we will not let our people there freeze,” Prodan said.
