TEL AVIV, November 5. / TASS /. Hamas has claimed responsibility for today’s terror attack in Jerusalem.

The official statement released in the Gaza Strip says that the perpetrator of the attack — resident of East Jerusalem Ibrahim al-Akari — was a Hamas activist.

The Palestinian resistance movement welcomed his actions calling it "heroic operation".

Earlier on Wednesday, at least one Israeli was killed and another 13 were injured as a result of al-Akari terrorist attack in Jerusalem.

According to the medical service of Israel, two of the injured are in critical condition, another one is in serious condition.

Eli Beer, the representative of Israeli first aid service, announced that a Palestinian on a car rammed the bus stop and run over some people in the eastern part of the city at the entrance to Jerusalem.

Then he reached the next crossroad and drove on the pedestrians near the tram stop.

After that he got out of the car and began to beat them with a metal rod. At that moment he was shot by the police officer.

Israeli journalists call such attacks involving any kind of transport “car terror attacks”.

The situation in Jerusalem got worse after the right Jewish activist Yehuda Glick was seriously wounded near the Old city of Jerusalem. The next day the suspect in the attack was shot by the police officers
