Incumbent authorities’ victory at polls signals policy is right - LPR leadership
At the elections in the LPR, with 27.8% of the votes counted, the incumbent leader Igor Plotnitsky has won 63.17% of the votes
LUGANSK, November 3. /TASS/. The victory of the Peace to Lugansk Region (Mir Luganshchine) movement at Sunday’s elections in the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic signals that its political course is right, the LPR’s parliament speaker said.
“We have seen the support, that’s why we can say we expected this outcome,” Alexei Karyakin said. “In general, this means that we are going in the right direction, if people support us,” he added.
At the elections in the LPR, with 27.8% of the votes counted, the incumbent leader Igor Plotnitsky has won 63.17% of the votes and the head of the Trade Unions Federation, Oleg Akimov, received 15.95% of the votes.
Businessman Viktor Penner comes third with 10.31% of the votes and is followed by LPR’s Health Minister Larisa Ayrapetyan with 8.36% of the votes.
The Peace to Lugansk Region movement calls for the republic’s independence and its key goal is developing close relations with Russia. The Lugansk Economic Union, led by Akimov, also urges strengthening ties with Russia. Its slogan is “wealth to every home.
