Nobody asked the Russia's Central Election Commission to contribute to organizing the voting for Ukrainian refugees, who are now staying in Russia, says its head Vladimir Churov

SOCHI, October 30. /TASS/. Russia’s Central Election Commission does not take part in preparations for the elections in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics scheduled for November 2, CEC chairman Vladimir Churov told TASS on Thursday.

Nobody asked the CEC to contribute to organizing the voting for Ukrainian refugees, who are now staying in Russia, he said.

“It was so during the Crimean referendum. They did not ask for assistance in organizing the voting. They made their work themselves,” Churov said.

The CEC knows about the republics’ intention to organize the voting for displaced persons on the Internet. Such practice exists in several European countries, he said.

Churov said, “I had information that several Russian experts - not from the CEC - will conduct distant monitoring of the elections in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.”

The Russian Central Election Commission is planning to conduct “distant monitoring” of the midterm elections in several states of the USA in November.

LPR to use experience of Russia, Belarus to write its laws

However, the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) will use the experience of Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian lawmakers in writing its laws, Alexey Karyakin, the head of the republic’s People’s Council (parliament), said at a meeting with Luhansk students on Thursday.

“Today, we are performing legislative functions. We are writing our laws with an eye to the years we have spent in Ukraine. We are rewriting these laws in the interests of the people by using the experience of neighboring countries, predominantly Russia and Belarus,” Karyakin said, adding the republic’s authorities were also using Ukrainian laws if they were written correctly and competently.

“We are analyzing everything to create a foundation on which everything will rest,” Karyakin said.
