Security services think that Britain may face a terrorism threat because British jihadists fighting in Syria and Iraq return to the country

LONDON, October 29. /TASS/. Armed soldiers have been deployed in the center of the British capital, near the Buckingham Palace and at the entrance to Horse Guards Parade. The Daily Telegraph said that these measures were taken to protect royal guards, performing the ceremony of the Changing of the Guard, which attracts thousands of tourists.

This decision was made by the British government services after a soldier on ceremonial duty in Canada was shot dead last week in a suspected terrorist attack.

At the same time, security services think that Britain may face a terrorism threat because British jihadists fighting in Syria and Iraq return to the country.

Former head of the Armed Forces, Lord Dannatt, said: “It is a sad sign of the times but discreetly guarding soldiers on ceremonial guard is a far better option that withdrawing them from duty and sight”.

As a result, Queen Elizabeth II, British Prime Minister David Cameron and the British top leaders will take part in a ceremony of Remembrance of the Dead, taking place at Whitehall, a road in the City of Westminster, in central London. This year this ceremony coincides with two important events: the 100th anniversary of the First World War and the end of the participation of the United Kingdom in the war in Afghanistan.
